Our speaker this month will be Sue Elliott from the charity ‘The Ripple Effect’.
Sue will be talking about the role of this charity in helping small farmers in struggling areas of the world. It would be lovely if as many of us as possible could join us for this talk – there will also be refreshments.
The church is neither too hot nor too cold at the moment which is nice, and we would love to see you.
Monday 21st July, in St Mary’s Church at 2pm. Maggie Williams-Chadwick.

PCC meeting
Our church council will be meeting on Thursday evening to discuss, and make decisions on, matters affecting our church. Please keep all the PCC members in your prayers this week.

Walk Church comes to Chartham Sunday 27th July, 2pm
Walk Church takes people outdoors to worship God in the context of a walk of around 3-4 miles in the local countryside. We will be hosting Walk Church on Sunday 27th July meeting at 1.45pm for a 2pm start. Details on the route etc will be made available soon.

First Aid Training
The PCC has arranged some First Aid training for members of the congregation. It will be on Saturday 27th September and run for most of the day. People who take part will get a credited certificate in ‘Emergency First Aid at Work.’
We have some spaces available and would like a few more people to train. If you are available and willing, please speak to Vicky (vetravis@yahoo.co.uk) or to one of the church wardens.

Appeal to help a refugee family in Canterbury.
David Chadwick is assisting a refugee family from Benin who have recently moved into an empty unfurnished house in Canterbury. They especially need curtains, a hob (gas or electric) for cooking on and/or an oven, a freezer and a lawnmower. Please contact David if you can help.

Eco church: churchyard proposal
Please look at the church’s Eco-church noticeboard to see the proposed new mowing scheme for the churchyard.
Please send any comments to ecochurch@stmaryschartham.org.

Reader Training placement 1st July to 12 August
David Arnott is away on a placement in the King’s Wood Benefice in July and early August. For any enquiries during this time about the Church rota, please contact Rev Andrew.

Coffee & Cake Concerts:
Our C&C team are having a well-deserved break over the summer.
However, we can look forward to Saturday September 20th when our own Emily Renshaw-Kidd, accompanied by Richard Ansell, will enchant us with a piano & voice recital entitled ‘What a Wonderful World’.

Collects and readings

20th July: Morning Prayer
with the Institution, by Archdeacon Will,
of Rev Andrew, our current priest-in-charge, as Vicar of St Mary’s
Almighty and everlasting God,
by whose Spirit
the whole body of the Church
is governed and sanctified:
hear our prayer which we offer for all your faithful people,
that in their vocation and ministry
they may serve you in holiness and truth
to the glory of your name;
through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Colossians 1: 15-28. Luke 10: 38-42

27th July: Holy Communion Service
Merciful God,
you have prepared for those who love you
such good things as pass our understanding:
pour into our hearts such love toward you
that we,
loving you in all things and above all things,
may obtain your promises,
which exceed all that we can desire;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Colossians 2: 6-15. Luke 11: 1-13

Getting Connected

Small Groups

While Sundays are a great way to meet new people, it is often in smaller gatherings that you can really get to know someone. Being part of one of our small groups allows you to make new friends, share together and support each other. We have a variety of groups that meet throughout the week, some afternoons and some evenings. Check out Small Groups and see if there’s one that you could join, or we can put you in touch with a small group leader who will be more than happy to invite you along to their group.
