PCC Covenant - St Mary’s Church, Chartham
Serving God
The PCC of St Mary’s, Chartham aims to seek the will of God for our church through prayer
and collaboration with our brothers and sisters in Christ. We are grateful for the opportunity
to use our time and talents for the benefit of our church and community. We recognise that
utilising Church funds, it is essential that our conduct is to the highest standards of integrity
to maintain trust and confidence.
Serving the church
We feel it is important to keep well informed about the views of our congregation, our wider
community and the issues that concern them. In seeking the opinion of others, we aim to
listen in an open, non-judgemental way.
We play a full and enthusiastic part in the life of our church, working towards the church’s
mission and vision, making informed decisions with the whole church family in mind and
forming a positive link with key areas of the church’s ministry.
We share a willingness to demonstrate leadership and commitment to our church, leading by
example to support our priests and lay readers so their efforts can be most productive.
Serving Each Other
We have respect and care for each other; listening and considering the words and ideas of
others on the PCC.
We share a commitment to prepare for, prioritise and attend meetings and a willingness to
play an active part in the PCC’s business, maintaining confidentiality.
We can discuss, debate and sometimes disagree openly in meetings, expressing ourselves as
clearly and honestly as possible so that we are certain others understand our point of view.
We commit to upholding the decisions of the PCC, to share a collective responsibility and to
play a role in communicating them positively to the wider church family.
